CTA Racine Kiosk

Main Project - User Interface Design & Programming

Racine Kiosk for CTA by team F5 is a user interface design project implemented using Java and SWT. The concept (and the conceit) here is that the city of Chicago and the Chicago Transit Authority decide to install large touch-screen panels on the streets outside every major El stop in the city to help people navigate around the city successfully.

This is a team of two project. Both members of the team came up with ideas and designs. The pros and cons were discussed and a good mix of the two was implemented.

We did a Kiosk for the CTA Blue Line Racine El Station. A map of where you are now, and how to get to nearby places will be a major part of the design. All nearby events, places will be shown. Schedules for buses and trains. All of this can be easily transferred to a Bluetooth enabled device.

The design also incorporated a feature to call a cab. Emergency Services (911) can also be accessed with the touch of a button!

At the end of the day, this was just a design! Click on an image to view a larger version.
